Thompsons of Prudhoe Demolition Contractors

Thompsons of Prudhoe is a family-owned business that has been operating for over 75 years, with a history dating back to 1948. The company directly employs in excess of 330 employees. It is a long-standing member of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) and the Asbestos Removal Contractors' Association (ARCA). Staff are members of the Institute of Demolition Engineers (IDE) and the Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM).

The company is a trained and licensed contractor experienced in the management of asbestos. It operates five quarries and recycling centres throughout the North of England and has been supplying aggregates, agricultural lime and slag for over 75 years. It won at the World Demolition Awards in Toronto, Canada, and its asbestos team was awarded ARCA Gold for the third year. Services include demolition, industrial dismantling, asbestos removal, earthworks, contaminated land remediation, site reclamation and site clearance.

Praise for the crews and the standard of completed work runs through the feedback for this Prudhoe-based demolition firm. A handful of customers describe the teams as polite, friendly and well organised, with one noting that a visit from Martin to price a job set the tone for a smooth process from start to finish.

A number of reviews mention the speed and efficiency of the work itself, including the careful stripping of corrugated asbestos sheets on a site where the client was shown around once the area had been cleared. The drivers attract particular comment, described as good at their jobs, while the wider workforce is remembered as a great bunch of people. Larger projects also feature, with the demolition of three tower blocks in Motherwell singled out as a spectacular sight and followed, in the same account, by the rapid clearing of the site and a result that looked impressive.

Tidiness and organisation come up often, with the place kept clean and the skips handled promptly. The willingness of staff to help and explain what is happening on site is a point that comes up often, as is the sense that the company handles both major demolition contracts and smaller clearance jobs with the same steady approach.
